• klaus's main development came after he experienced some bizarre and-slash-or traumatic events after his arrival in asgard. some dragon hole shenanigans, a white walker war (and some others i'd have to go back and find, just work with me—) plus a few other things (such as scouting and plant-testing) led to an extremely solid friendship between himself, lalli hotakainen and emil västerström. together, they ended up building a house with a couple friends (tuuri, reynir) where they all lived together for a while. by the end, klaus had a menagerie house before he, too, left asgard and ended up in the hellhole that is vestige.
• reliving things during cave hallucinations eventually allowed him to somewhat forgive himself (and sharing said things with emil and lalli at one point was a big factor) for things that'd happened back in his homeworld and accept making new friends wouldn't be the worst thing. witnessing emil's death – while being unable to stop it – was another turning factor when it came to his decision that protecting those he cares about is far better than running the other way.
• other mentionable people he became close to are rhys strongfork (borderlands) and ivar the boneless (vikings). the former he maybe kinda-sorta developed a friends with benefits thing with at first, but when it came to emil's death, rhys was there to help comfort and reassure him despite everything. that alone solidified their friendship, given how much trust he had to put into letting that be a Thing. ivar, however, is a stranger case in the sense they've got a tentative, tumultuous friendship (???) that's developed from a mutual understanding of one another (and mushrooms and right-proper viking makeovers in klaus's case). oh, and klaus also helped ivar discover his magic after a pep talk, which might've had something to do with it? just maybe, that is.
• and i suppose alongside regaining his mediumship, evocation and astral projecting, he's got his asgard magic: healing spirit (which is in the form of moths) and telekinesis.
