As of January 2021, one of the available phone apps is Not Enough Fish, the dating app that literally nobody wanted. It's basically a Tinder knockoff except you can message even if you left-swipe and the Technicians wrote the bios instead of the characters writing their own. It's literally impossible to change what it says, and any messages sent to the character's NEF get sent directly to that character like a regular (if somewhat stylized) inbox message.

The bios vary from brutally honest to overly revealing to outright insulting, depending on which direction you want to take it. They'll never actually lie about your character, but they might frame something in a misleading way. They're typically in a fairly dry/non-flowery tone, but I'm obviously not gonna police it.


To participate, follow these steps!


• Paste the code from the drop-down below into a new entry in your character's journal.
  ( There are two versions available, and the only difference is whether it has three profile pics or just one.)
  
• Fill in the code according to the 'how to use it' section below!
  
• Post a link to that entry here in a comment so we've got everyone's NEF profiles all in one place.
  (Maybe even include a screenshot with the link, so folks can see it as they scroll through this page.)


If you don't want to participate, just pretend the Technicians didn't fuck with making your character a bio.

THE CODE

We have two versions currently - the three-pic version and the single-pic version. (It has too many textareas within the code to post as a textarea here.) I'll toss up a preview/example here once I do it for one of my characters.

This code is a tweaked version of Tessiasmess's dating app code, so credit where credit's due.

HOW TO USE IT

Yes, it is a bit intimidating - but I specifically used that paste site so I could bold the key elements for you. These are the only elements you need to adjust, and are as follows (in order):


• IMG_ONE - the first profile picture. (if you use the one-picture version, it's the only picture.)
• IMG_TWO - the second profile picture.
• IMG_THREE - the third profile picture.
• (NAME) - your character's name! (get rid of the parentheses in this + the next two)
• (AGE) / (GENDER) / (HOMEWORLD) - self-explanatory, basically just those info fields.
• (BLURB) - replace this with the meat of the bio, as written by the technicians!
• ENTRY_URL - the next three are all this same thing. replace this with the link to the dating profile entry itself (the entry the code is going into) in all three instances, but be careful to only replace the bolded part so that the '?mode=reply' is still intact or else it breaks the code!
This creates a bio page with your character's picture, info, and blurb, with buttons that automatically paste the appropriate code into the comment field of that entry, ready to be filled out! Respondents can include a message (middle option), or simply reject/match the character without a word of explanation.

If you'd rather consolidate all responses into your pre-existing IC inbox, you're free to use that as the 'ENTRY_URL' instead - but remember that the code has to be its own entry regardless.
